Module 5: Takedown Defense Fundamentals
Of the series, this instructional (after Module 1) will probably be the most useful for the martial artist with little or no wrestling background, particularly if your style and goals are simply to diffuse a wrestler's most common tactic of shooting in on you. You will learn the detailed fundamentals of defending against common wrestling tie-ups (e.g., collar tie, underhooks, overhooks, two-on-one) and leg attacks (e.g., double leg, high and low inside single leg, outside single leg takedowns). The techniques discussed and demonstrated are effective against larger opponents based upon principles of leverage and mechanical advantage. If you are primarily a stand-up or submission fighter, this instructional will give you the tools, tactics, and strategies to deal effectively with wrestlers' most commone control and attacking maneuvers. You will develop confidence to maintain effective range to execute your striking skills and/or ground game. Equally important, you will learn to quickly and effectively transition from defense against wrestling style control and attack gambits by your opponent to your offense. Over two-and-a-half hours of instruction on 2 DVD's!For administrative purposes, the date of 12/28/2005 is listed below for "Available Soon" modules. I will be completing the editing and authoring of the modules in the order they are listed on the Products page and anticipate most of the series to be completed by the end of the summer or early fall. As I get close to completing each module, I will replace the availability date to inform customers. Please check the website every couple of weeks!
